thyroid diet smoothie recipe, chocolate smoothie for breakfast with poha or aval is a filling and gluten free breakfast meal and perfect way to start your day. thyroid health is a concern these days and trying to include foods that are good for your thyroid heath is a great way to combat the disease naturally. thyroid and weight loss is easy to manage if you include certain foods in your diet which will not only help to reduce weight, bloating and fatigue but will give you more energy and a glowing and radiant skin.
my favourite thyroid food is cacao, if you ask me its the best thing in the world. Cacao nibs are rich in iron , magnesium, zinc, copper, manganese, and vitamin C and that means it is great for your thyroid health. Be sure to choose raw cacao powder. The best thing about cacao is that it increased brain function, metabolism, and prevents and treats depression...yes, cacao makes you happy! it certainly does make me!!
Banana is one healthy natural plant based food for a healthy thyroid and along with poha or aval (flattened rice) it will provide more magnesium, zinc, iron, protein, etc....much required for thyroid health.
Including flaxseeds in your diet will give thiamine which has the same benefits for thyroid health as vitamin B12.
Homemade curd: probiotics are a must for a healthy digestive function. In fact, thyroid conditions are lined to a problem called leaky gut syndrome; it is something that a protein like gluten can leak through the gut and get in the blood stream and cause inflammation through the gut and get into the blood stream and cause inflammation through out the body, and can also cause inflammation of the thyroid gland. Thus, for healing leaky gut syndrome probiotics are the no.1 supplement and what better that real good homemade curd/dahi to provide good probiotics.
INGREDIENTS:
1 frozen banana
1/2 -3/4 cup aval/poha (I used thin aval)
1/2 cup homemade dahi/curd
3/4 cup water
coconut sugar: 1-2 tsp or as needed OR use 2 dates instead
raw cocoa powder: 1 1/2 tbsp
Flaxseeds: 1 tbsp
Chiaseeds: 1 tbsp
Cinnamon powder: 1 tsp
Cacao nibs: 1 tbsp or as needed
------------
Dry roast the aval/poha without burning on medium to low flame
you can use milk instead of curd, though I prefer curd for it probiotics and its good for the stomach. You will not know there is curd in this smoothie if you use fresh homemade curd which is not sour.
I used brown poha/aval as it is available here in Kerala. You can use white or brown
have this chocolate shake as a post workout drink, it is light on the stomach yet keeps you fuller for a longer period
its a healthy chocolate shake for kids.
