Apple Dump Cake

Apple dump cake, a three ingredient easy dump cake....with all the goodness of apple and cinnamon!

I have a confession to make...as you know I hardly post recipes that I have tried just once, most of the recipes on my site are tried by me more than once unless it is a recipe handed down by amma and is a family favorite!! but this one is an exception!! and boy was I glad that I decided to take pictures while making. The dump cake turned out to be a  yummer!! and kids loved it!!

Dump cake, not a pretty word for a dessert eh! and they are called dump cakes, because you can pretty much dump everything into the pan, cool isnt it!! No mixing, no creaming....just DUMP everything into the pan....give it a quick mix with a fork or a spoon and sprinkle it with cake mix and dot with butter...I would say perfect for the novice baker!! or for that busy mom!! or for that workaholic bachelor!! just kidding, its really easy to make and apples are in season....so grab some the next time you shop....along with a box of yellow cake mix!!  when I saw the recipe on pinterest, I had to make it...so when I went out to pick up my daughter from school, I had a quick visit to the local supermarket and could only find a small 250 gm cake mix.....I grabbed that one and headed home to bake.
Oh BTW I started a new board on pinterest- Applelicious feel free to visit for more apple recipes and more will be added soon...yeah!! I am a pinterest addict!!

I would suggest a few things, like using fresh apples rather than canned ones, I used 4 apples and after baking I felt I could have used one more....the cake mix I got here was small quantity....so I think a regular packet would have given a more cake-like-crumb-texture....if you like the way mine turned out...forget what I said.

Most of you might have had dump cakes before, and for those who haven't this will make you a really happy baker. This is the perfect dessert for weeknights, weekends, Christmas, celebrations, after school surprise...I am leaving that for you to decide. It would be double yummy if you top it with vanilla ice cream...I dint have one in the freezer, so I opted for sugar dust and apple glaze.

So lets get baking!!
Three ingredients cake!!

Notes:
# One measure tart filling, use readymade pie filling or you can make your own like I did.
Topping:
Sprinkle powdered sugar and top with apple glaze.

Apple dump cake:
Though there is 5 apples in the pic, at the last min I changed my mind and used only 4, but I think you can use all 5 as the apples will shrink.

Peel and core and then chop them up.

Butter your baking pan, and dump the apples in, then sprinkle 4-5 tbsp of sugar, sprinkle 1/4 tsp of cinnamon powder or grate it like I did, juice of half a lime, and mix all.

BTW I used my small grater ....love the fresh flavor!

Keep the apples for 5 to 10 minutes or so, so that the apples will shrink and juice will come out. Then push back the apples to a side and take 2 to 4 tbsp of apple juice aside, this is to make the apple glaze....so keep that aside.

Sprinkle 1 heaped tsp of corn flour and 1 tsp of butter and mix well and level them out. The corn starch will make the juice to thicken while baking.

And dump the cake mix over it

Dot with butter OR you can melt the butter and spread over....either way is fine.

Bake at 180 degree C for 30-35 minutes or until done.

Dust with powdered sugar once it comes to room temperature.

Make apple glaze with the juice we have kept aside (just add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of powdered sugar into the juice and mix well, till you get the glaze).

Drizzle apple glaze while serving Or you can top with vanilla ice cream
Enjoy this easy dump cake.

Apple Dump Cake

PREP TIME: 10 mins    |  COOK TIME: 30 mins    |  AUTHOR::
  apple pie

  INGREDIENTS

  • Apples: Peeled, cored, and chopped about 4-5 or 500 gms.
  • I box yellow cake mix.(I used Pilsbury).
  • Butter: 1/2 stick/ 1/4 cup/50 gms.

  METHOD:

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degree C. Peel and core apples and then chop them up.
  2. Butter your baking pan, and dump the apples in, then sprinkle 4-5 tbsp of sugar.
  3. sprinkle 1/4 tsp of cinnamon powder or grate it like I did, juice of half a lime, and mix all.
  4. Keep the apples for 5 minutes or so, so that the apples will shrink and juice will come out. Then push back the apples to a side and take 2 to 4 tbsp of apple juice aside, this is to make the apple glaze....so keep that aside.
  5. Sprinkle 1 heaped tsp of corn flour and 1 tsp of butter and mix well and level them out. The corn starch will make the juice to thicken while baking.
  6. And dump the cake mix over it.
  7. Dot with butter OR you can melt the butter and spread over....either way is fine.
  8. Bake at 180 degree C for 30-35 minutes or until done.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar once it comes to room temperature.
  10. Make apple glaze with the juice we have kept aside (just add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of powdered sugar into the juice and mix well, till you get the glaze).
  11. Drizzle apple glaze when serving.

NOTES

  • Since the cake mix I got was small, when I checked the directions on the box, it suggested using 50 gm or half stick of butter...so if your cake mix is the regular size, then use 100 gms or 1 stick butter.
  • You can either melt butter and pour over the cake mix or dot softened butter on top of mix, either way is fine.
  • Free free to use canned apples (21 oz can filling).

  3. I do fresh apples or peaches with cinnamon sugar sprinkled on them before dumping cake mix on top. Can add chopped nuts. I have also used pie filling. Carmel apple is yummy, and sometimes i put cherry on one side of pan and blueberry on the other, or whatever i have on hand. I always sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top of cake mix after butter is dotted on cake mix.

    1. Hello anon-first of all for baking, we need to preheat the oven. There is no need to cook the apples, using chocolate cake mix wont be a good idea as it does not go with apples....try with yellow cake mix or you can use caramel flavor or syrup too enhance the flavor....thanks for stopping by :)

Turmeric Tea Mix Recipe For Weight Loss - Homemade/DIY (Golden) Turmeric Tea Mix

turmeric tea mix - diy turmeric mix to make turmeric tea or golden milk. turmeric tea for weight loss, for a flat belly, stomach bloating, and for overall health. this homemade mix is an excellent fat burner and also will boost immunity. have this on empty stomach in the morning for best results. the active ingredient in turmeric known as curcumin has powerful anti inflammatory effects and is a strong anti oxidant. curcumin is not easily absorbed by the body and that is the reason inspite of us Indians having lots of turmeric in our diet, do not get its full benefits. black pepper is the one natural ingredient that helps the curcumin to be absorbed into the body by around 2000%, wow! So, do not skip black pepper when taking turmeric. All the ingredients I used in this homemade turmeric tea mix are locally acquired and organic. curcumin/turmeric is fat soluble so it is also a good option to have a warm cup after a heavy meal. studies shows that turmeric can prevent cancer, h...

Pidiyum Kozhiyum Recipe - How To Make Kerala Style Kozhi Pidi - Kerala Recipes

Pidiyum kozhiyum or kottayam style pidi is a traditional knanaya cuisine ; these rice dumpling have a thick gravy like sauce, unlike the dry versions of Malabar kakka roti or kozhi pidi. Knanaya style pidi is served with varutharacha kozhi curry. Traditionally, pidi is associated with baby shower ie when the daughter-in-law is sent to her parents house for delivery, it is customary for the mother-in-law to make kozhi pidi and we knanaya people still follow these traditions. My main aim is to preserve this recipe; so that the future generations can enjoy this wholesome dish. Pidi is rice dumplings which is simmered in water along with shallots, garlic, curry leaves, and coriander seeds; but I have used coriander powder instead to make the whole process easy. Amma mentioned that if using coriander seeds then; the water used to mix the rice flour should be sieved and that using fresh roasted coriander powder saves time. I have made a video recipe and I hope this you help...
